Parents First Initiative
Because every child deserves to be seen, valued, heard, and set up for success.
Our Story
The Parents First Initiative is a collaborative effort between LVfirst United Methodist Church and the Georgia Center for Opportunity designed to empower and support families in the Lawrenceville area.
This innovative initiative is designed to support parents and other caregivers with tools and resources as they share their faith and values with their children.

About Our Parenting Classes
Our 10-week parenting class is the first step of support we offer parents and caregivers. For these classes, we are proud to use an evidence-based curriculum called Raising Highly Capable Kids (RHCK).
RHCK introduces parents and caregivers to the essential building blocks that children need to become healthy, responsible, and caring adults. Research has shown that these building blocks lead to improved academic achievement, better emotional and mental health, and healthy relationships and behaviors.
What Parents Gain From PFI
Whether you’re a new parent or have been on this journey for a while, the Parents First Initiative offers something valuable for everyone!
- Gain practical tools to support your child’s emotional and social growth.
- Learn how to create a positive environment at home.
- Connect with other parents and share experiences in a safe, supportive environment.

"This is a very enriching program, and I think every parent should take it. Because to be good parents requires effort. We need to train ourselves. Our children need it so they can succeed from now on and become great people."
